Types of Computers on the Basis of Structure

Analogue Computers
The computers that provide us with continuous information are called analogue computers.
Analog computers represent physical quantities in the form of waves or in continuous form.
Examples of Analogue Computers
The thermometer is an example of an analogue computer because it continuously measures the length of a mercury column.
A traditional clock is also an example of an analogue computer because the needle of the clock continuously covers the distance of the dial.
Another type of analogue computer is a weight scale or a speedometer.
Characteristics of Analogue Computers
The following is a list of some of the primary characteristics that an analogue computer possesses:

Digital Computers
The computers that present physical quantities with the help of symbols or numbers and provide us with discrete information are called digital computers.
Examples of Digital Computers
Digital watches, digital petrol stations, and the computer that we use nowadays are examples of digital computers.
Characteristics of the Digital Computers
The following is a list of some of the primary attributes of digital computers:
- have two states On (0) and Off (1)
- easy to use
- human being like to use digital computers
- reliable
- have a big memory
- When compared to analogue computers, the working speed is slower.
- are further divided into different categories such as personal computers, mainframe computers, and supercomputers.
Hybrid Computers
Hybrid computers are those that have characteristics of both digital and analogue computers.
A hybrid computer combines the speed of analogue with the precision of digital.
Examples of Hybrid Computers
In the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of a hospital, hybrid computers are used. These computers' analogue quality controls the temperature of the room, and their digital quality informs the doctor about the blood pressure, temperature, and physical status of the patient.
A hybrid computer is used in a cement factory, where digital computers perform all calculations and analogue computers perform actions such as increasing material.
Characteristics of the Hybrid Computers
